Gruevski – Kenny: Irish support for Macedonia is confirmed

Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, who participates at the EPP summit in Dublin today met with his Irish counterpart Enda Kenny, where were good relations between the two countries were confirmed, as well as the Irish support for the Macedonian integration into the EU.

The good Irish – Macedonian diplomatic relations this year mark 20 years since their launch, and interviewees agreed that despite the good and friendly political relations there is potential for further intensification of economic relations.

Macedonian Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the support of Ireland and in the Macedonia’s European integration process, but emphasized the importance of its commitment under the EU institutions, especially the European Parliament to maintain the continuity of EU enlargement.

Interlocutors discussed a number of topics and issues and the Prime Minister Gruevski informed Kenny about the name dispute with Greece asking for further support from the Republic of Ireland in the European integration process of Macedonia.

Macedonian Prime Minister on the sidelines of the Congress said that the future European Commission should be aware that the issue of Macedonia is not closed yet in terms of its accession to the EU.
